Symphonic Wind and Brass

Symphonic Wind and Brass – Friday 5:15 – 6:15

Musical Director: Robbie Gardiner

Which Instruments are in the ensemble?
Any symphonic wind and brass, including: flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet/cornet, trombone, French horn, Tuba. We are also happy to have other winds (like saxophone, euphonium, baritone etc)

What is the required standard to be in the ensemble?
Approximately grade 4 and above

Which instruments are needed at the moment?
There is a regular turnover of our senior players, so we need all instruments really. But especially middle and lower instruments: trombones, horns and bassoons are most welcome

Examples of repertoire played / genre of music
A big mix, including arrangements of film music, wind band repertoire and other chamber music. We like to change it up – and the students’ own suggestions are most welcome

What is the concert dress?
Plain black

Recent highlights of Bolton Symphonic Wind and Brass:
Last year we preformed Strauss Serenade for Winds, which was an mazing achievement. But really every week is a high point – they are a wonderful group of young people

Other information
Everyone is welcome – I will do everything I can to adapt and arrange parts. It’s a really friendly space, and a fantastic way to spend your Friday evening
