International Youth Philharmonic

For many years, Bolton Music Service linked with our twin town, Paderborn, in Germany to provide wonderful opportunities for pupils in Bolton and Paderborn through the International Youth Philharmonic (IYP). Jurgen Boelsen, Director of Music at the Paderborn Musikschule is retiring this year and played a key role in driving this project forward. We would like to thank Jurgen for his commitment to IYP over many years. Here is a message from the Mayor of Bolton:

Soundtracks

The Soundtracks programme is looking for new music leaders to join our delivery team. More information here

Soundtracks is an open access programme of quality music activity across Bolton and Blackburn with Darwen, which runs music making opportunities for young people in youth centres, and connect young people from the age of 12 with new musical pathways and progression routes.

The Soundtracks programme particularly supports young people who face barriers to music making and those experiencing challenging circumstances in their lives.

Our Children’s Regional Ensembles

Our ever increasing range of GM music ensembles are catering for our most advanced students and challenging them to achieve their very best. Many of these students are moving on to music in higher education with a promising career in music ahead of them. It is only through sharing talent and resources that the Music Services in the GM Hub and their partners can work together to provide these special opportunities. Adults and Community Programme

In recent years, Bolton Music Service has started working with adults to create what is now an extensive programme of adult ensembles. Music is very much on the health and wellbeing agenda and there has been much research on its benefits. The way in which Bolton Music Service is now embedded in the fabric our town and its community is in no small part due to the partnerships that we have built up with the local music community. This support will help us in our ambition to preserve and sustain Bolton Music Service for future generations so that Bolton children of the future and our adults will have the joy of making music with others.

If you would like to become part of this music making community then please join one of the groups below, everyone is welcome from beginner to the more experienced musician.
